Thanksgiving is about the food. The big family dinner, the turkey and all the trimmings, not to mention the traditional leftovers. So the table is a natural direction to decorate for the holiday.
Setting Turkey Day placemats on the table, or using a holiday-theme table cloth or runner is a good way to start your kitchen decor. For me, the table decor stays out all month long. It's used just for decor to begin with, but then these same accessories work to set the big family dinner.
