Creating a Vintage Theme Bedroom

Bedroom decorating can be simple when you start with a theme. A vintage theme is one of the easiest
because there are so many choices and options available to you. Create your bedroom unique your own with the accents and bedding you choose.

Start with a Color Scheme

I'm a big fan of having a good starting point when decorating. Colors are an easy choice. If you're interested in a vintage look, you obviously prefer soft, warm colors. That's very traditional in vintage looks. Whether it's pinks, browns, blues, greens, yellows, you are attracted to a more muted color scheme.

Maybe you found a bedding set that you love. Look at the colors in the print. They will help you decide on a color scheme for your bedroom decor.

Add the Accent Pieces

The accent pieces in your vintage bedroom will make all the difference. Besides your bedding set, which will take center stage in any bedroom, the other accents pieces can include lamps, wall clocks, pictures, figurines, wall decals even your curtain choices.

Tiffany lamps are considered a great addition to any vintage look. But I have word of caution here. Tiffany lamps often command their own attention. You might prefer the look of a tiffany lamp on a side table or desk away from your bed.

Vintage Can be Different Themes, too

Considering how many choices in vintage looks you have, you might like to create a theme-within-a-theme. Here are some to think about:
Mixing things like stripes and florals can work very well for your vintage theme also. So don't be afraid to express you inner vintage person with themes that work for you.

Creating a Paris or Eiffel Tower Theme Bedroom

Oo la la and the charm of Paris. What a fun theme for a bedroom. And there we have the most iconic image of Paris, the Eiffel Tower.

Creating a theme for your bedroom around the Eiffel Tower or a Paris theme is not hard when you consider the accents and accessories for bedroom decor. I always like to start with the biggest items, which are also the most expensive. For the bedroom, that's the bedding sets. Whether it's a Paris design bedding set, or just a solid color in your color scheme, it's still easiest to start with the bed.

From there head to the walls. Eiffel Tower wall decals make a great addition. They are easy to apply and add just the extra touch to showcase your theme. Choose just the Eiffel Tower or pick a Paris city scape. Some wall decals are full-sized to your bedroom wall, while others are smaller and will work above the bed or a table/chair grouping.

Then look for the little extras that will complete your Paris or Eiffel Tower theme. Things like decorative accent pillows to add to your bed or chair, a wall clock, even a figurine of the Eiffel Tower.

All of these extra accessories are the kind of things that will create your theme. Once you have the color scheme and your bedding, the Eiffel Tower wall decals will be an easy next step for you. Then the fun of adding accents will be yours and before you know it, your theme is complete.

Animal Decor for Bedroom Decorating

Using a theme for your bedroom decorating makes figuring out how you will decorate much easier. For me, animals are a priority. I love animals, so an animal theme for bedroom decor is perfect.

Many people love animals like I do but that's not a requirement to choosing an animal theme for your decor. Sometimes it's just the look and effect that attracts you.

Animal themes can bring about the wild side of just about anyone. Wild animal fur designs for your bedding and then adding accents that match can make a great look for a bedroom. Zebra print bedding happens to be one of my favorites.

With zebra prints, a black and white decor to go with it makes for easy decorating and a popular choice, too. Maybe pick a bright accent color, like hot pink, lime green, even bright red works great to add some spice to your black and white color scheme.

Personally, I like to start with the largest pieces first, then decorate around them. With zebra print bedding you have the largest portion of your decorating all set. Add in a decorative pillow in your accent color, then add in a few extras, even a zebra figurine and you have a complete look pretty easily and inexpensive. That's my favorite way to decorate - easy and inexpensive.

So go bold, go fun, go with animal themes for your bedroom decor. Whether it's to show off your wild side, or just because you love animals, you can't go wrong.

Create a Tropical Bathroom

As far as I'm concerned, tropical and bathrooms just go together nicely. After all, a bathroom is all about water. So thinking tropical, the beach, on the water is logical next step.

Decorating your bathroom in a tropical theme is easy. Luckily there are plenty of choices for accessories and accent pieces. That doesn't mean you will have the same look as the house down the block. With so many choices, you can create your own bathroom look, unique to your own tastes.

For me, seashells work great as a tropical theme. Little accessories like a seashell soap dish can bring your decor together.

It's more about the little accents you add than the large more expensive pieces in your decor. I don't want to spend a lot of money or time decorating my bathroom.

If your bathroom has a shower curtain, little things like the shower curtain hooks as seashells can be so easy to change to create the tropical theme. You can go all out with a seashell curtain as well, or try a solid color in one of the colors that you find in seashells, like tans, pinks, even whites.

So go for simple when you create a tropical bathroom theme. Simple accessories like a seashell soap dish, or seashell shower curtain hooks can add just the right touches for your theme decor.

Tropical Accents for a Bedroom Theme

When we are talking about bedroom themes, tropical is one of those great ones. Just the idea of the idyllic conditions of relaxing on a beach, listening to the sound of the surf, watching the mesmerizing water all bring about the kind of mood that makes for a wonderful restful sleep.

That's the way I think of a tropical theme. A great way to relax and feel refreshed. At Easy Bedroom Decor we are busy putting together those perfect accessories and accents pieces that can create that tropical theme.

Table lamps, we talked about already, but let's add a wall clock in our theme. Wall clocks bring the theme up the wall, creating vertical effects. Normally, a theme for a bedroom is strong on bed level because of the comforter or bed linen. Those are the most prominent visual accents.

Then you add a few seashell decorative pillows, a table lamp and maybe a small grouping of seashells or other tropical accessories on a table of dresser top. Still keeping your theme lower in the room. When you add a wall clock, either as a stand alone or as part of a vignette on the wall, you create vertical decor.

Besides, who doesn't need an extra clock around? We seem to live our lives based on the time of the day, so you might as well have that time easily visible in your bedroom. So a tropical theme wall clock plays double duty for you. It's part of the decor and functions to help keep you on time.

Creating a Tropical Theme Bedroom

A friend of mine asked for help in decorating her new home. She recently moved from the Midwest to Florida and has been very excited about using a tropical theme for her home.

Like most of us, she's on a limited budget. So starting from scratch to create her theme was not a good idea for her. But, we know that's not necessary. No painting, no wall paper, we don't even need to replace the majority of her furniture. Yet, we will create for her a wonderful home with a tropical feel.

We are starting with her bedroom to create that great theme. Of course, at Easy Bedroom Decor, we decided to do a series of articles to show the decorating process and the accent choices we are presenting.

The first in the series is Tropical Theme Bedroom Lamps. But, keep watching as we add decorative pillows, new bedding, wall clocks, accent pieces and much more.

As we go along, we will also be decorating her living room, kitchen and bathroom. What fun that will be. At least she and I are looking forward to that. Hope you will, too.
